UroLift

The UroLift System is a minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) that relieves urinary obstruction without cutting, heating, or removing prostate tissue. Small permanent implants hold the enlarged prostate lobes apart, restoring urine flow — often with same-day discharge and no catheter.

UroLift Center of Excellence

Dr. Hamoui's practice is a designated UroLift Center of Excellence — a distinction recognizing superior clinical outcomes, high patient volume, and commitment to the highest standards of minimally invasive BPH care.

How It Works

  • Cystoscope passed through the urethra — no incisions
  • Small permanent implants retract and hold the prostate lobes apart
  • Typically 4–6 implants per session
  • No tissue cut, heated, or removed
  • Outpatient, ~1 hour under local or sedation anesthesia

Who Is a Candidate

  • Men with moderate-to-severe BPH (IPSS ≥ 8), prostate 30–80 cc
  • Want to preserve ejaculatory and sexual function
  • Prefer to avoid daily medication
  • No significant obstructing median lobe
  • Good option for men who are poor TURP candidates

What to Expect

  • Same-day discharge; catheter use is rare
  • Mild urgency and discomfort for 2–4 weeks
  • Noticeable symptom improvement within 2–4 weeks
  • Sexual function and ejaculation preserved in clinical trials
  • Durable results at 5 years; retreatment remains an option
