How It Works

  • Ultrasound maps the prostate; surgeon outlines the treatment zone
  • AQUABEAM robot delivers a precise high-velocity saline waterjet
  • Obstructing tissue removed with sub-millimeter accuracy
  • No heat — eliminates thermal damage to surrounding structures
  • OR procedure under spinal or general anesthesia

Who Is a Candidate

  • Symptomatic BPH, prostate ≥ 30 cc
  • Ideal for large glands (80–150+ cc) where other options fall short
  • Men who want to reduce retrograde ejaculation risk
  • Failed or want to avoid ongoing medication
  • Candidates for general or spinal anesthesia

What to Expect

  • Outpatient; typically 1 overnight stay for monitoring
  • Catheter removed within 24–48 hours post-op
  • Mild hematuria common for 1–2 weeks
  • Light activity in 1–2 weeks; full recovery in 4–6 weeks
  • Lower retrograde ejaculation rates than TURP; durable at 5 years
